Wisconsin Moves Closer to Medical Marijuana Legalization

Now, even Republicans in Wisconsin are saying medical marijuana may be part of their agenda in 2023. Specifically, Speaker Robin Rochester favors partial legalization of medical cannabis.

Many Republicans in Wisconsin do support partial legalization of medical marijuana. Mostly, they are concerned about the complete legalization of the drug. Wisconsin Republicans want to make sure only those who need it can gain access to the drug.

Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has been pushing for the total legalization of cannabis for quite some time now, but he has not had any luck in passing any legislation doing so. Medical cannabis is a great place to start.

Some Senate leaders have released the fact that the GOP is very close to agreeing to sign a medical marijuana bill, even if it is restrictive. Republicans basically just want to make sure that it would be well regulated and only given to those with serious medical conditions.

Although the legalization of marijuana, both medically and recreationally, is a popular and widely held viewpoint nowadays, it seems as if Wisconsin lawmakers are lagging behind the trend.

Republicans in Wisconsin will probably never fully support the legalization of marijuana for recreational use. That is why it’s so important for you to contact your lawmakers and let them know how you feel about the issue.
